Landscape

Between Realism and Impressionism

“Landscape and seascape have always interested me. I enjoy painting outdoors. Although I was trained as an impressionist, and paint my landscapes almost completely on location, my influences tend to be the studio painters who drew or sketched outside, but painted their pictures inside. I want my landscapes to convey a sense of reality, as if you were there, seeing what I see. I work hard to capture the effect of light and color, that’s part of my impressionist heritage, but I also try to design and draw with the care of a studio painter.”
