The Late Show, 1993
Oil on canvas, 26 x 38
Collection of the artist
The three youngest children of the artist posed for this painting. The deadening and addictive effect of television was the theme. In addition, it is also an accurate depiction of his children’s personal habits. Andrew, to the right, is the first to fall asleep. Elizabeth struggles to stay awake while Philip, remote in hand, is awake but mesmerized.
